When I first heard of 9Ja-Connect organization in Toronto, I asked myself, who are these people? How would they treat me? Would they accept me? Would they condemn me and, worse yet, would they try to fix me? This because as a teenager all I have heard from some family members back home is that I needed to be fixed. How do you fix someone that was born as is? I am a proud homosexual and loving it. I had been directed to the doors of 9Ja-Connect organization, a place I knew nothing about but glad I went for their information session, it didn’t take me long to realize that this place was like no other. Every face had a smile and everyone wanted to help. The big moment for me was when I was allowed to talk about my story, and my struggles.
